The coronavirus (COVID-19) is affecting communities all around us. Common signs of infection include fever, cough, shortness of breath and respiratory symptoms. As of now, there is no vaccine, but there are precautions you can take to stay healthy.

Owens Soft Water would like to share some of the preventative measures everyone should be taking to protect them from coronavirus.

  1.       Wash Your Hands Often

Regularly clean your hands with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds, especially if you have been in a public area, or after blowing your nose, sneezing or coughing. If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol. The alcohol-based soap or sanitizer will be strong enough to kill any viruses on your hands.

To make sure you are washing your hands thoroughly try singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” twice, and don’t miss the backs of your hands, between your fingers or under your nails.

  1.       Avoid Touching Eyes, Nose and Mouth

Your hands may touch a surface and pick up viruses, bacteria, and germs which then can be transferred to your eyes, nose or mouth. Only touch your face if you have washed your hands thoroughly.

  1.       Cover Coughs and Sneezes

To protect others, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or the inside of your elbow when you cough or sneeze. Immediately wash your hands with soap and water after sneezing or coughing for at least 20 seconds.

  1.       Stay Home if You’re Sick

If you are feeling under the weather even with mild symptoms such as a headache and a runny nose, it is best to stay home. Seek medical attention if you have developed respiratory problems, fever or have trouble breathing.

  1.       Avoid Close Contact

Try your best to avoid close contact with people or anyone who is sick. If you see anyone coughing or sneezing, try to stay at least 3 feet away to protect yourself from liquid droplets that may contain the virus. One way to avoid close contact with others is to work remotely and not attend events or any place with large gatherings.

  1.       Clean and Disinfect

Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks. If you notice a surface is dirty, clean it using disinfectants.

Although the coronavirus is not typically spread through water, disinfecting your water could be another preventative measure. If you’d like to have your water disinfected Owens Soft Water has certified products that are capable of filtering out bacteria and viruses.

The Department of Homeland Security has deemed that all businesses that work in the area of water treatment are considered essential to the public. Therefore, Owens Soft Water will remain open.
